Fine Form: Antique Doll Lamp

vintage antique doll lamp

This lamp is one of my most sacred possessions--one of two gorgeous antique lamps that I inherited after my grandma passed away. Growing up they were weighed down in pounds of gold necklaces she piled over their skirts. It took several hours of untangling the necklaces to liberate these ladies, so most of the time I'm careful about how much I'm tossing on top of them. I happen to think this one looks like a bejeweled warrior in her sash of colored beads and my Cara bracelet as a headdress.

(Stolen Off) My Boyfriend's Back: Strange Donuts

strange donuts maplewood monster t-shirt
T-shirt: Strange Donuts
Floral blouse: thrifted (old, so likely Salvation Army)
Necklace: thrifted, Belleville Flea Market

It probably seems like I own a ton of Strange Donuts t-shirts, but I swear, this one was by accident! I inherited the shirt after my boyfriend shrank it in the wash, an act of kismet that practically shouted, "Girl, you can rock this so much harder than he can!" It's become one of my new favorites to mix and match because the pink and teal tones are easy to play up, and the gray is so blissfully neutral (which is about as rare in my closet as a unicorn). Plus it always makes me hungry for donuts--never a bad thing in my book!

One of my favorite personal trends in high school was layering a button-down under a t-shirt. A crisp white shirt packs a put-together punch, while patterned shirts can shift the tone of an outfit. In this case, I think it keeps the graphic from coming off as too grotesque.
